X HALF: FUJIFILM’s new jewel
The compact camera is presented with a renewed design that evokes the brand’s classics. Its optical viewfinder, meanwhile, significantly improves its capabilities.
With state-of-the-art color processing technology as a major innovation, FUJIFILM recently introduced the X Half Compact Digital Camera (FUJIFILM X-HF1) in Tokyo, Japan.
According to the Japanese company, the X Half incorporates a rear LCD monitor, ideal for vertical composition, which allows you to shoot in that direction and record videos with a 3:4 aspect ratio. The “2-in-1” feature, meanwhile, allows users to combine two still images or videos into one composition, providing richer narrative capability than individual images.
The optical viewfinder evokes the feeling of film cameras, recreating and enhancing distinctive reproduction capabilities. The camera incorporates the popular “Film Simulation” and the “Grain Effect”, which reproduces the unique texture of grain from film photos, along with new filters such as light leakage and halation, to offer users a wide range of creative expressions.
The X Half is also presented with a new design evoking the appeal of classic cameras in a compact 240-gram body, thanks to its compact size and easy-to-use touch controls on the rear LCD screen.
Connections and Cinema
Mode Pairing the camera with Bluetooth mobile devices is another advantage, allowing you to transfer still images and videos to smartphones, enjoy various display formats, and send images to instax™ Link series smartphone printers.
It also features a “Cinema Camera Mode” to simulate the experience of film photography. This mode recreates film photography in the digital age, selecting a film simulation and a number of shots at the beginning, although – they clarify in the mark – you cannot review the images until all the shots have been taken.
Turning the frame advance lever on the top plate of the camera after each shot activates the next shutter release. After taking the selected number of shots, the image data must be transferred to the new dedicated X half app to digitally develop, view, edit and share the photos taken. Contact sheets are also saved after digital development.
