Su trayectoria de m\u00e1s de cinco d\u00e9cadas conlleva tambi\u00e9n un trabajo m\u00e1s introspectivo, con una serie de publicaciones, exposiciones y reconocimientos.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>En 1954, a la edad de 11 a\u00f1os, Marcelo Tom\u00e1s Marcelo Montecino Slaughter dej\u00f3 su natal Chile para radicarse junto a su familia en Estados Unidos, era un mundo nuevo que pronto capt\u00f3 su atenci\u00f3n y que marc\u00f3 parte de su infancia y juventud. All\u00ed inici\u00f3 su formaci\u00f3n universitaria, especializ\u00e1ndose en Relaciones Internacionales y estudios Latinoamericanos, comenzando tambi\u00e9n su camino por la fotograf\u00eda.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>La evoluci\u00f3n de su trabajo lo define en tres etapas, una \u00e9poca joven que va desde sus inicios en la d\u00e9cada del 60 hasta 1973, marcada por una mirada melanc\u00f3lica. De ello dan cuenta las im\u00e1genes de esos a\u00f1os, en blanco y negro, con personas y lugares tanto de Chile como de Estados Unidos.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>En 1973 inicia su labor como fotoperiodista y, por lo tanto, lo que hace es capturar la realidad, etapa que se extender\u00e1 hasta el plebiscito de Chile de 1988. En estos a\u00f1os se adentra en los conflictos sociales y pol\u00edticos del centro y sur del continente americano, como los liderados por el Frente Sandinista de Liberaci\u00f3n Nacional (FSLN) en Nicaragua, el Frente Farabundo Mart\u00ed de Liberaci\u00f3n Nacional (FMLN) en El Salvador, lo que sucede en Guatemala, Cuba, Ecuador y Colombia, entre otros pa\u00edses. En paralelo, retrata al Chile en dictadura, su gente, la cotidianeidad y las primeras manifestaciones en contra del gobierno.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img como Newsweek, la televisi\u00f3n canadiense, Washington Post Magazine y Financial Times, entre otros. A inicios de los 90 se adentra en una b\u00fasqueda m\u00e1s personal, deja el fotoperiodismo y se aboca a la fotograf\u00eda documental e introspectiva.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Su obra tambi\u00e9n la ha plasmado en libros, es as\u00ed como en 1981 publica \u201cCon sangre en el ojo\u201d, que recibi\u00f3 el premio en el g\u00e9nero Periodismo en el Concurso Internacional de la revista mexicana \u201cProceso\u201d.
